The property team acts for a broad range of clients in all property areas. We have a strong rural, commercial and residential practice, with a broad range of clients including individuals, equity partnerships, developers, joint ventures and public and private companies throughout New Zealand.

We provide comprehensive property law advice and services tailored to our clients' specific requirements. Our work includes undertaking negotiations relating to acquisitions, disposals, leasing and other property projects. We carry out due diligence investigations utilising the significant skills and resources available. In addition, we have vast experience in advising on ownership structure options and financing for the completion of any particular project.

We have significant experience in subdivision work, often working in conjunction with our resource management and commercial colleagues to offer a seamless service from initial identification of an opportunity to project completion.

Examples of recent work undertaken by members of the team include:

  • the acquisition of a significant retail and commercial development
  • obtaining the Commissioner's consent to the transfer of pastoral leases
  • advising on a significant vineyard development in Marlborough
  • obtaining Overseas Investment Office consent to transfers of significant rural properties to overseas investors
  • project management for the acquisition of rural properties on behalf of private equity companies
  • restructures of farming arrangements to facilitate succession planning.
