Goodman Tavendale Reid has considerable experience in insolvency, corporate restructuring and receivership. The firm regularly acts for receivers and liquidators including national insolvency practices.

Our insolvency and restructuring team is able to bring together expertise from both our corporate and commercial and litigation/ dispute resolution teams. Members of the team have considerable experience in dealing with insolvencies and restructuring, both in New Zealand and internationally.

The team is able to provide up to date and accurate legal and strategic advice in relation to the Personal Property Securities Act 1999.

Work recently undertaken by members of the team includes:

  • advising bank appointed receivers in the disposal of secured assets of a New Zealand based manufacturer including advising on PPSA and cross border issues in relation to foreign domiciled assets
  • appearing on behalf of a liquidator to examine directors of companies in liquidation
  • acting as counsel for liquidators on a reckless trading claim
  • acting for receivers in relation to the recovery of assets subject to multiple claims
  • acting for companies in the purchase of assets from liquidators
  • representing creditors in relation to protecting their interests, both secured and unsecured, in a corporate restructuring
  • acting for creditors and debtors in respect of winding-up petitions.
